In terms of durability, the screws we will use will overcome this.

Building a ladder shelf can be both fun and budget friendly.

Read on for the plans and steps for how to make a ladder shelf.

You will find ladder shelf plans, dimensions, details, instructions here.

Review them carefully so you will be ready when it’s time to cut and organize the pieces.

ladder shelf building process starts from back legs and side support.

Hardwood or pressure-treated boards are a popular choice, as are cedar and cypress.

Pressure-treated timber is easy to stain, durable and budget-friendly.

1) Starts by checking the list of tools to use for your DIY ladder shelf. After collecting the missing tools, focus on purchasing materials.

2) Measure and cut all the pieces and prepare them. Measure the length twice before doing your cuts. Make sure to label each one.

Tips: Drill pilot holes in wood pieces using a power drill for easy connections.

3) Follow the Project details for assemble the wood pieces.

4) We will use two screws: 1 1/2" and 2 1/2".

5) You will secure use wood glue to the contact surface.

6) Fill any gaps and frame nail holes with wood putty.

7) Sand the entire Project with 150-220 grit or more sandpaper and dust pf prior to painting or staining your finished Project.

Wood painting information:

First, sand the wood with 150 grit or higher sandpaper to achieve a smooth, even surface before staining.

Thoroughly remove all dust from the wood by using a vacuum with a hose attachment, then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Then wiping clean with a damp cloth.

First, apply Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner to the boards. Apply the Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner and allow it to penetrate the wood for just 1-5 minutes, then remove excess conditioner that has not soaked into the wood with a clean rag Apply Water Based Wood Stain to all of the wood.

You can the color Desert Sand mixed and the color Pure White mixed. What I love about the water-based stain is

1) how easy clean-up is…

2) how little odor the stain has…

3) the colors.

You can get everything from bold, colorful shades to neutral wood tones to light, creamy cottage and ocean-inspired stains.

Apply the stain using a foam brush, and allow it to penetrate the wood no longer than 3 minutes.

It is very fast-drying, so work in small sections! Wipe the wood with a clean cloth to remove any stain that has not soaked into the wood.

Allow the stain to dry 24 hours before applying a protective finish.

Tip: It will be easier to wear a pair of gloves while wiping the excess stain to keep our hands clean than to wash our hands.

After the stain has dried 24 hours, apply a thin coat of Water Based Polycrylic (I used the clear matte finish) using a brush.

Allow to dry at least 2 hours, then sand with a very fine 220 grit sandpaper and remove all dust.

Apply a second and third coat, drying and sanding in between each layer.

The wood will need 3 hours to dry before handling and 24 hours before it will be fully cured.

If you've ever used polyurethane on top of white paint and seen the yellow stains that appeared once the poly dried, you know how important it is to make sure you're using the right topcoat.

* If you wish, you can create different beautiful results with your own color choices.

I prefer to use these colors mostly for coffee tables. But beautiful colors will look good anywhere.

Assembly Process:

Step 1:

First, we add the C1 side support piece to the rear leg A1 piece.

We screw it from the back. We use 2 1/2" screws. Then we add part B1 to the lower part of part A1 and screw it.

Then we add the other B parts to the C1 part and screw it, leaving a distance of 14 1/2" between them.

Step 2:

Then we add the B support piece to the other A back leg. Then we repeat the first operations.

We screw the C1 side support to the A1 foot.

Then we screw the B1 parts to the C1 part, leaving a distance of 14 1/2'' between them.

Step 3:

Here (D1) we place our second legs on top of the C pieces so that they are in line with the B pieces and screw them under.

Step 4:

In this part, as in the previous step, we place our third(E1) and fourth (F1) legs on the C parts in line with the B support parts and screw them under.

Step 5:

Now we place the G1 parts on top of the C1 parts, leaving 1/2" distance between them, and screw them in. We use 1 1/2" screws.

Step 6:

Now we place the B1 parts in the middle of the E1 parts and the top of the F1 parts and screw them as in the figure. There will be 9 1/4'' distance from above and below part of E1.

Step 7:

Here, we place the B1 piece in the middle level of the A1 feet and screw it in.

There will be 1' 2 5/8'' distance above and below the A1 foot. Since the D1 piece is on the C1 side supports, it will be 1'1 1/8'' from below.

The distance from the top of the D1 piece to the B1 piece that completes the A1 legs will be 1'2 5/8''.

The B1 pieces that we will place on the D1 feet will be at a distance of 9 1/4'' from top to bottom.

The screwing operations will be done from the junctions of the B1 parts with the feet.

While doing the screwing operations, attention should be paid to the situation we have stated as a Note.

You can screw one from the bottom and the other from the top so that the screws do not conflict with each other.

Step 8:

Now we will place the middle shelves of the rear leg and the upper shelves of the second and third legs.

Here, there should be 1/2'' distance between the rear legs' shelves and 1/5'' distance between the middle and front shelves.

After gluing the shelves, we will screw the screwing operations from the top of the shelves, one at the front and one at the back. You can use 1 1/2'' screws.

Step 9:

Now, we will place and screw the B1s, which are the shelf support parts of the rear legs, in a way that they will coincide with the top of the A1 and D1 parts.

Step 10:

Finally, we place the G1s, which are our top shelf parts, on the left and right of the A1 and D1 legs so that there is no gap and screw them from the front and rear ends of the upper parts.

We have completed our Project!

This flower rack stand not only will make plenty of charm to your outdoors and indoors depending on your design preferences but also, will look modern, minimalistic, warm, and relaxing in your house.
